What inspired you to pursue a career in yoga?

I was inspired to pursue a career in yoga because yoga helped me personally to achieve a healthy mind, body, and spirit.  I truly believe that yoga can transform lives and I am passionate about sharing this transformative practice with others.  I also believe that yoga can be a powerful tool for healing and self-discovery.

What advice would you give to someone who has never tried yoga before?

First, it is important to note that yoga is about much more than fitness.  It has a long and deep history that is often overlooked.  You do not need to have a certain level of fitness or flexibility to try yoga…since, yoga is for the willing, not for the flexible.  There are many different styles of yoga, find the one that resonates with you the most and embark on day one of this beautiful journey.

What do you believe are the biggest benefits of yoga both physically and mentally?

·     Yoga improves strength, balance and flexibility;

·     Yoga helps with back pain relief;

·     Yoga can ease arthritis symptoms;

·     Yoga benefits heart health;

·     Yoga relaxes the body and promotes better sleep;

·     Yoga helps to manage stress and anxiety;

·     Yoga connects you to the community.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work, and how do you stay healthy and balanced in your own life?

In my spare time, I love golfing, hiking, biking, and spending time with my husband and my dog.  I maintain very healthy eating habits (except for chocolate and almond ice cream from time to time)…I also practice meditation, mindfulness, and yoga every day.

What is one benefit to your classes that you think would surprise people/ people don’t often know about? Any other unexpected benefits that you wish more people knew about?

I wish people knew more about sound therapy and its benefits.  Beyond it being super relaxing and rejuvenating, it increases energy and stamina, reduces tension and stress in the body, improves focus and concentration, helps with emotional traumas, clears energy blockages, and balances the chakras.

What are you grateful for?

I am grateful for my husband (he is my rock), I am grateful for my health, I am grateful for my teachers and those who paved the way before me, I am grateful for my community, I am grateful for all the new opportunities opening in front of me, I am grateful for my past mistakes that taught me a lesson in resilience and consistency, I am grateful for the air I breathe, I am grateful for life.
