What do you enjoy doing outside of work, and how do you stay healthy and balanced in your own life?

I really enjoy exploring and adventure. I love mountain biking, kayaking, paddleboarding, camping, yoga and hiking. I stay healthy and balanced by practicing what I preach, making time for myself, exercising, stretching, meditating, getting massages, chiropractic adjustments, doing therapy, and going to a naturopath. Eating well but also eating what brings me great joy. We are complex creatures and I think it’s super important to take care of our physical, emotional and spiritual body.

Who usually comes to see you/ what are they often looking for?

I tend to see a lot of clients who are feeling stuck in their lives. Perhaps physically in a job, relationship, goals, or emotionally from past traumas. I really am passionate about working with clients like this. I have begun to integrate a lot of my teachings, so in my session, I love when clients trust and allow me to provide the best treatment for their needs that day. It might look like a massage ending in Reiki, or Subconscious imprinting with Akashic records work and massage. I love exploring what healing looks like and allowing my intuition to guide us.

What brings you Joy?

My Garden, My cat, Coffee, hiking, traveling, exploring, learning, connecting on a deep soul level with others, creating new things.

What does self-care look like for you?

Self-care is typically me doing something alone. I find it very recharging to be in isolation in some capacity and not having to be in the presence of other people's energy. I spend time journaling, taking care of my plants, going for a run, having a nap, meditating, listening to music and cleaning, having a nice bubble bath, and watching documentaries.

What inspired you to open iava wellness?

There were many reasons but a main one is I had never really felt supported in my uniqueness, in my offering, or my ideas.  I read a book called The Pumpkin Plan and it talks about how no one is going to drive across the city for an average business, practitioner, or provider. There is one of those around every corner. So what sets you and your business out from the rest? For me, honoring and supporting every person's uniqueness is the environment I am aiming to create. Some days I want to wear bright pink pants to work because that makes my heart happy, I encourage my staff and clients to show up as their true selves as well. Ultimately I  just wanted to create a safe and unique environment that is accepting of all
